Objective :To research the mechanism of Yang Shoudan(YSD) on the prevention and treatment of AD. Methods :Established the model rat of Alzheimer's Disease(AD)induced by intraperitoneral injection of D galactose(50mg/d,for 40 days)and combined with ibotenic acid injection into bilateral nucleus basalis of Meynert (for two sides,5μg/per side,for one time)at first,and then observed the learning and probe capacity of rat by experiments on avoiding dark going through crooked road and Morris water maze test. Results :YSD can extend the latent period of learning and memory of AD rat and decrease the wrong frequency in avoiding dark going through crooked road experiment,and shorten the escape latent period of AD rat and increased the times of crossing the platform of its quadrant in Morris water maze test.This effect was much better in high dose of YSD than that in low dose and Huperzine A. Conclusion :YSD can improve the learning and memory and spatial probe capacity of AD rat,and these effects were better than that in Huperzine A.
