Development of Environment-friendly Alcohol-soluble Toepuffs

The vinyl acetate-methyl methacrylate-ethyl acrylate-acrylic (VAc-MMA-EA-AA) copolymer emulsion was synthesized successfully by pre-emulsified emulsion polymerization method,and then a new type of alcohol-soluble toepuff was developed by using such emulsion.Results showed the optimum conditions were:m(VAc)∶m(MMA)∶m(EA)∶m(AA)=60∶25∶10∶5,m(sodium lauryl sulfate)∶m(alkylphenol ethoxylates)=1∶2,the quality of emulsifier was 3.0%,initiator was 1.5% and the temperature was 80℃.The new alcohol-soluble toepuffs' Shore D hardness was 47,adhesive strength was 8 N·mm-1,tensile property was 12 MPa,and its alcohol-soluble ratio was up to 51%.
