Process improvement for 7A04 aluminum alloy has been attempted by using deep cryogenic treatment under several aging temperatures, in order to improve the homogenization of the precipitate phase and decrease the tendency of intergranular corrosion. The microstructure and intergranular corrosion resistance of the alloy were tested after the treatment under various conditions, and the effect of microstructure of 7A04 aluminum alloy on the intergranular corrosion resistance was examined. The results show that the intergranular corrosion resistance is the best as the sample is treated by water quenching combined with deep cryogenic treatment at the aging temperatures of 130℃.
