Objective To investigate the treatment of acute suppurative cholangitis with endoscopy in emergency. Methods 62 patients were involved in this study. All patients were diagnosed the acute suppurative cholangitis (ASC) and treated under endoscopy in emergency. The procedures were performed including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatogrephy (ERCP), endoscopic nosobiliary drainage (ENBD), and/or endoscopic sphincterotomy (EST). Results 58 patients were treated successfully. Bile duct stones were removed in 52 patients, while the rest 6 patients underwent operation after plenty drainage. The clinical symptoms of 54 patients were improved, while no serious complication and dying occurred. Conclusion The treatment of ASC under endoscopy is a safe, effective and minimal invasive method and it will have a great clinical application value.
