Objective:To elucidate the relationship between the levels of plasma lipids and the alteration of HDL subclasses in patients of hyperlipidemia with spleen deficiency and pure hyperlipidemia.Methods:Contents of serum HDL subclasses in 40 cases of hyperlipidemia with spleen deficiency,50 cases of pure hyperlipidemia subjects and 68 normal controls were determined by twodimensional gelelectrophoresis coupled with immunodetection method.Results:Compared with normal controls,the serum levels of BMI,TC,TG and LDL-C were increased(P 0.01) and HDL-C decreased significantly(P 0.01) in hyperlipidemia with spleen deficiency and pure hyperlipidemia.The serum levels of Glu were increased significantly(P 0.05) and apoA-I decreased significantly(P 0.05) in hyperlipidemia with spleen deficiency.Compared with pure hyperlipidemia,the serum levels of BMI and LDL-C were increased significantly(P 0.05 or P 0.01) and HDL-C decreased significantly(P 0.01) in hyperlipidemia with spleen deficiency.In the distributions of subclasses,compared with normal controls,the contents of small-sized preβ2-HDL were increased significantly(P 0.01) and large-sized HDL2bdecreased significantly(P 0.01) in hyperlipidemia with spleen deficiency and pure hyperlipidemia.The small-sized HDL3awas increased significantly(P 0.05) in hyperlipidemia with spleen deficiency.Compared with pure hyperlipidemia,large-sized HDL2bwas increased significantly(P 0.05)in hyperlipidemia with spleen deficiency.Correlation between HDL subclasses and plasma lipids showed that in hyperlipidemia with spleen deficiency,serum TC levels were positively correlated with preβ1-HDL and preβ2-HDL(P 0.01),and negatively correlated with HDL2b(P 0.05).The serum TG levels were positively correlated with preβ1-HDL,preβ2-HDL and HDL3c(P 0.05 or P 0.01)and negatively correlated with HDL2aand HDL2b(P 0.05 or P 0.01).The serum HDL-C levels were positively correlated with HDL2aand HDL2b(P 0.05) and negatively correlated with preβ1-HDL and preβ2-HDL(P 0.05).Conclusion:The particle size of HDL showed a shift toward smaller size in both hyperlipidemia with spleen deficiency and pure hyperlipidemia subjects and the tendency was more obvious in the latter,which might be one of microstructure characteristics of spleen deficiency.
