摘要
The Schwinger model is quantum electrodynamics (QED) in one space and one time dimension with massless fermions (quarks). The model, in its massless form, is exactly solvable, so one can explore properties which are otherwise (e.g., in QCD) inaccessible. Here we investigate the effect of a small fermion mass on the mass of the Schwinger boson, and define and evaluate its scalar momentum density. We utilize this example to explore methods, such as discretization and ``near'' light front quantization, in order to elucidate their utility in more realistic theories. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.
