Western blotting and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) are the two most useful and sensitive methods to measure the ng/ml to pg/ml ordered materials in the solution, such as serum, urin e and tissue/cultured cell supernat ant, and they are especially widely used in protein detection. Western bl otting and ELISA have widely application in scientific researches, industry and medical prac tice. Besides the Western blotting, Northern blotting and Southern blotting are also useful in the biochemical application. This article describes the principle techniques for Western blotting and ELISA procedure. (Researcher. 2009;1(2):67-86) . (ISSN: 1553-9865).
