A comprehensive mathematical model was constructed to investigate Ballard proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell stack performance in terms of load, time and operating currents. The investigation was focused on predicting the performance of the PEM fuel cell stack by tracing system output parameters such as exit temperature, stack efficiency and stack voltage with change of load and time. The proposed model is claimed to be useful in evaluating PEM fuel cells performance as well as water and thermal management. 30 refs., 7 figs.
