A new chance to treat rheumatoid arthritis lung fibrosis?

Interstitial lung disease complicates rheumatoid arthritis in more than 10% of cases.1 Despite the severe effect on quality of life and survival of patients, treatment of rheumatoid arthritis-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD) is still challenging. A comprehensive approach to the treatment of RA-ILD should include the management of both joint and lung involvements of disease, but this is complicated by the uncertain effect of some disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) on lung function.
