The research project employs a qualitative research approach, which seeks to analyze the interplay between human judgment and machine-based decision-making, as exemplified by the paradox of Artificial Intelligence adoption within the management decision-making process, wherein the adoption of AI enhances the capabilities of the decision-making process while, at the same time, eliminating neither uncertainty nor the role of the manager. The accompanying teaching note offers a theoretical framework for the research project, which is informed by paradox theory, human-AI augmentation, sensemaking, and governance. The research project findings indicate that the adoption of Artificial Intelligence is not merely a technological phenomenon but, rather, an organizational phenomenon that challenges the conventional management logics and requires the development of new capabilities within the realm of management, leadership, and ethics.
