The steroid content of human follicular fluid (FF) correlates well with follicular growth and the morphology of the oocyte. FF is rich in steroids and the concentrations of estradiol (E2), progesterone (P), 17-hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP) were found to increase progressively with follicular growth, while those of the androgens, e.g. androstenedione (A), decrease.
