Using mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) to load pesticides has become a research hotspot. In this study, MSNs loaded with abamectin were successfully prepared by a one-pot method, which synchronized the synthesis of nanoparticles with pesticide loading. The preparation cycle shortened, reaction requirement is reduced, and drug loading rate is increased, and the drug can protect abamectin from natural light damage. Moreover, alkaline conditions accelerate the release of abamectin owing to the destruction of mesoporous structures, and increase in temperature promotes molecular movement and accelerates the release of abamectin. Compared with traditional abamectin formulations, MSNs loaded with abamectin prolong the duration of abamectin against Plutella xylostella and significantly reduce toxicity to A549 cells. The preparation of MSNs by the one-pot method provides important help for the further promotion of MSNs as a pesticide delivery system.
