Ion-Induced Surface Charge Dynamics in Freestanding Monolayers of Graphene and MoS2 Probed by the Emission of Electrons

Studies of the surface charge dynamics on the femtosecond timescale in 2D materials following ion impact yield six times higher electron emission for graphene in comparison to MoS${}_{2}$, bridging the gap from ultrafast laser physics to ion beams.
