Abstract The global shift toward a green hydrogen economy seeks to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions through sustainable energy solutions. Liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHCs) are emerging as promising media for hydrogen storage and transportation. One of the key advantages is their compatibility with the existing gasoline infrastructure, making them highly attractive for various applications. Current research is focused on developing more efficient catalysts and reactor setups to improve the performance of LOHC systems for practical use. This concept article outlines the latest advancements in catalyst development, reactor technologies, and the practical deployment of LOHC systems. It also addresses the challenges faced by these systems and explores potential alternatives. The article provides an overview of the current progress in LOHC‐based hydrogen storage and utilization, as well as future directions for the field.
