Trimethylsulfoxonium iodide: a green methylating agent for site-selective methylation of carbohydrates

It was reported that trimethylsulfonium iodide [(CH 3 ) 3 S(O)I], utilized as an eco-friendly and efficient methylating agent for carbohydrates, achieved moderate to excellent yields and site selectivity when combined with an iron catalytic system.
