Water mediated synthesis of dialkylphosphine oxides from white phosphorus and N-(acyloxy)phthalimides

The first water mediated synthesis of dialkylphosphine oxides and α-hydroxy phosphine oxides from P 4 without a chlorination step and oxidation process is presented.
