OBJECTIVE To compare efficacy of cefoperazone/sulbactam and imipenem/cilastatin in the treatment of serious infection associated with granulocytopenic patients. METHODS Fifty-six patients with granulocytopenia (M37, F19; age 28±21 years old) were divided into two groups. Twenty-eight patients of them were treated with cefoperazone/sulbactam (0.5g +5% glucose 100ml), iv, drip, bid for 7-10 d, Twenty-eight patients were treated with imipenem/cilastatin (0.5g+5% glucose 100ml), iv, drip, q8h for 7-10 d. RESULTS The clinical effective rate of cefoperazone/sulbactam group was 89.28%, recovery rate was 71.42%; The clinical effective rate of imipenem group was 96.42%, recovery rate was 75%. No significant difference (P0.05) was found between cefoperazone/sulbactam group and imipenem/cilastatin one. CONCLUSIONS The therapeutic effect of cefoperazone/sulbactam in the treatment of serious infection associated with granulocytopenic patients is the same as that of imipenem/cilastatin.
