Overexpression of VTS1 gene in Saccharomyces cerevisiae leads to suppression of nonsense-mutations ade1-14UGA and trp1-289UAG, which enhances growth of yeast cells on media without adenine and tryptophan. We showed that suppression was caused by downregulation of SUP45 gene, which encodes translation termination factor eRF1.
