摘要
The global pursuit of sustainable and environmentally responsible building requirements has accelerated innovations in energy-efficient technologies. This chapter discuss the augmentation of solar, geothermal, and Earth-air heat exchanger systems within the context of sustainable building designs and operations. By utilizing the renewable energy sources and optimizing the design of heat exchanger, it is aimed to reduce the environmental impact of buildings without hampering the occupant comfort. This chapter also provides a comprehensive overview of the solar energy harnessing process through photovoltaic panels and solar thermal collectors, and the geothermal systems that are taped into the Earth's stable temperature to provide heating and cooling. The effect of integration of these systems within the building's HVAC systems is discussed in detail.
