The value of diastolic tissue doppler of interventricular septum in the diagnosis of constrictive pericarditis

Objective To study the value of the diastolic Doppler multiphase wave of interventricular septum in the diagnosis of constrictive pericarditis.Methods Thirty cases with constrictive pericarditis,which were confirmed by pathological diagnosis from 2000 to 2011,were selected and enrolled into the observation group.A retrospective study was carried out on their medical data.Thirty healthy subjects were selected as the controls.Echocardiography,tissue Doppler imaging and cardiac MRI were conducted preoperatively in both groups.Tissue Doppler imaging characteristics of interventricular septum were analyzed in both groups.Results Typical echocardiographic constrictive appearances occurred in all 30 cases in observation group and no abnormalies in the control group.Statistically significant difference was found between the two groups(P0.05).Taking the pericardial thickness greater than 3 mm as pericardial thickened in the MRI imaging,there was 28 eligibles in the obervation group.The Doppler spectrum shape of the interventricular septum showed that there was a significant rebound wave R in the opposite direction after early diastolic E wave,which formed a complex composition of Ew,R,Aw,or multi-phase wave that contains more waveforms in the observation group.There was no occurrence of this wave in the control group.Conclusions There is typical diastolic multiphase wave of the interventricular septal tissue Doppler imaging in the constrictive pericarditis.The diastolic Doppler multiphase wave of interventricular septal tissue imaging can be a reliable indicator in the diagnosis of suspected constrictive pericarditis.
