Progress on the HPI of Pathogenic Escherichia coli

The high-pathogenicity island(HPI)is first found in Yersinia,which is also found in pathogenic Escherichia coli for horizontal gene transfer.HPI has become a hot topic in basic medicine and life science.With futher studys,there is a very intimate relationship between HPI and human and animals.Current research discovered that siderophore and bacterial virulence has a very important relation.This review described the pathogenic Escherichia coli high-pathogenicity island: the basic characteristics,the epidemiological characteristics,the acquisition for HPI and the relationship between HPI and pathogenicity.
