Preliminary study on impounding water of Three Gorges Project in September

Ahead impounding water of Three Gorges reservoir is an important problem of getting more benefit of Three Gorges Project(TGP),but it will inevitablely increase the risk of flood control.It is necessary to put forward an effective scheme to meet the flood control requirement.A safety control water level impounding scheme in September is presented based on the analysis of flood frequency and flood detention capacity of the TGP.The safety control water level at dam site is proposed and the corresponding benefit of more power generation is calculated.The results of this study can be used for enactment of the TGP operation scheme.
