An assay by HPLC was compared to a thin layer chromatography (TLC) procedure for the analysis of sulphamethazine in fresh meat samples; a significant correlation was obtained between HPLC and TLC method. The samples are extracted with dichloromethane (pH = 4-5) and cleaned with cartridge of silica. The resolving and cleaning up extract in methanol is prepared for subsequent analysis by HPLC or TLC.
