A Study on the Lived World of a Mother Who Has Lost Her Son to Suicide: Focused on Lived Time, Space, Body, and Relationship

본 연구는 자살유가족의 자살예방과 그들에 대한 지원방안 마련을 위해 성인기자녀를 자살로 상실한 노년기 어머니의 생활세계를 현상학적 사례연구 (Phenomenological case study)방법으로 접근하였다. Van-Manen의 분석 방법에 따라 생활세계 실존체의 네차원인 시간성, 공간성, 신체성, 관계성을 분석하였다. 연구결과, 아들을 자살로 상실한 어머니의 생활세계의 시간성은 ‘멈춰버린 인생’, 공간성은 ‘사라짐’, 신체성은 ‘죽음을 향해 달리는 몸’, 관계성은 ‘상처와 치유의 과정’ 으로 나타났다. 네 차원을 아우르는 통합주제는 ‘암흑 속에서의 빛 줄기’였다. 이를 기반으로 자살유가족에 대한 사회적 지원과 자살예방을 위한 실천적·정책적 제언을 하였다.The aim of this study was twofold: First, to prevent suicide of a family member; and second, to create a supportive method for them. To do this, researchers conducted an in-depth interview of a mother who has lost her son to suicide and analyzed her lived world according to the phenomenological case study method. The researchers explored her lived world with focusing on four views according to Van Manen s analysis method: the lived time, the lived body, the lived space, and the lived relationship. The results were as follows: the lived time of the mother s life was ‘suspended life at the day , the lived space was vanished universe of life , the lived body was body running toward death , the lived relationship was ongoing process of recovery from emotional injuries . The theme integrating these four views was a beam of light in the pitch darkness . Based on these results, the researchers presented some policies and practical suggestions that could be come into action by the society to help survivors of a family member suicide and to prevent them from killing themselves.
