Use of polyacrylic acid and polyacrylate sodium in alkaline Zn/MnO_2 battery

Technical progress of zinc gel binders for alkaline Zn/MnO2 battery was summarized. Effect of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, polyacrylic acid, polyacrylate sodium and polyacrylate on battery performances was analysed. It showed that using poly-acrylic acid or the mixture of polyacrylic acid and polyacrylate sodium as zinc gel binder, the zinc gel and battery had lower amount of gas evolution and electric performances, shelf property, antivibration were perfect and technological adaptability was better than before.
