Nutrient management in soybean.

This chapter describes the soil, climate and nutrient requirements for growing soyabeans (Glycine max) as well as the symptoms of nutrient deficiencies and toxicities in soyabeans. The nutritional constraints of soils supporting soyabean-based cropping systems, the efficient use of applied nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulfur, calcium, magnesium and micronutrients) and biological systems, and the balanced and integrated nutrient management in soyabean-based cropping systems are reviewed. The soil test-based fertilizer recommendations, the integrated fertilizer-water management under dryland conditions, and the economics of fertilizer use are discussed.
