Smart passive thermal switches

Adaptively controlling heat transfer via thermal switches plays a critical role in thermal management. However, thermal switches with small volumes and passively switched capacity are still challenging. In a recent Cell Reports Physical Science paper, Wehmeyer and co-authors reported an all-magnetic thermal regulator with a small volume and passively controlled thermal regulation triggered by the environment.
