Verification of Generative AI–Generated Information among Higher-Education Students: A Systematic Mixed-Studies Review

This systematic mixed-studies review examines verification of text-based Generative AI–generated information among higher-education students in academic or information-seeking contexts. It will identify how verification is conceptualized and operationalized; synthesize individual, epistemic, source/message-related, task/contextual, and design-related determinants and mechanisms; evaluate relevant interventions and system affordances; and map theoretical, methodological, measurement, population, contextual, and evidentiary gaps. The review will use convergent integrated narrative/thematic synthesis. Protocol version 1.2 was finalized on 14 August 2026 before the formal Scopus-V5 and ERIC-V4 searches.
