摘要
This chapter argues the lists are intimately connected with the development of a contemporary endangerment sensibility. The documents focus of administrative work, become more instrumental than the actual places. The World Heritage Committee administers the nomination of places to a World Heritage List, including properties forming part of the cultural heritage and natural heritage. The chapter discusses with the example of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park World Heritage Site, which was listed as a natural site in 1987. The global, late-modern development of an endangerment sensibility clearly encompasses various modes and techniques of protection, in the case of cultural heritage, there does appear to have been an exponential growth. government has made possible the expansion of museological forms of management, from endangered monuments and buildings in situ to imperiled traditions and customs, and thence to cultural practices labeled intangible heritage.
