Phthalate esters(PAEs) including dimethyl phthalate(DMP),dibutyl phthalate(DBP),butylbenzyl phthalate(BBP),diethyl phthalate(DEP),bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate(DEHP) and dioctyl phthalate(DOP) were determined by gas chromatograph–mass spectrometry(GC-MS) method in the surface soils of E-waste disassembly sites in Taizhou city,Zhejiang Province. The result showed that the total PAEs concentrations(ΣPAEs) ranged from 9.11 to 50.58 mg·kg-1 and 2.63 to 17.55 mg·kg-1 near 100 m and 1000 m in the E-waste disassembly sites respectively. The ΣPAEs ranged from not detected(nd) to 7.15 mg·kg-1 in control site.DEHP and DBP were the major phthalates accounting for more than 90% of total phthalates studied. The data suggested the surface soils of E-waste disassembly sites in Taizhou were severely contaminated by PAEs.
