Effect of continuous quality improvement on management of medical waster in health examination center

OBJECTIVE To discuss the effect of continuous quality improvement(CQI)for medical waste management in health examination center.METHODS The problems and reasons of medical waste management in health examination center before the implementation of CQI(Apr 2009- Mar2011)were retrospectively analyzed,the targeted CQI strategy was implemented,the passing rate of medical waste management and health care and the situation of staff grasping medical waste related knowledge were comparatively analyzed before and after the implementation of CQI(Apr 2011-Mar 2013),the data were statistically analyzed by using SPSS13.0software.RESULTS After the implementation of CQI the medical waste management inspection qualified rate increased significantly,the qualified rate of medical waste and waste from 62.50%to 94.02%,the qualification rate of the medical waste classification and collection increased from 42.83% to 92.57%,shipping and transportation qualified rate increased from 50.00% to 88.59%,personal protection increased from 46.38% to 90.76%,as compared with those before the implementation of CQI,there were significant differences(P0.01);the qualified rate of understanding of management of medical waste increased from 78.00% to 96.00%,with significance(P0.05).CONCLUSIONS CQI management model can effectively optimize the medical waste management processes in health examination center and could enhance the awareness of hospital infection management in medical staff.It could also improve the quality of hospital infection management as well as eliminate hidden dangers and control hospital infection.
