APPEARANCE AND POLARIZATION CHARACTERISTICS OF STARCH GRANULES OF MAIZE DRIED BY HOT-AIR DRYING AND VACUUM DRYING

In order to investigate the influences of drying methods and drying conditions on the granule properties of the maize starch,the article analyzed the appearance and the polarization cross characteristics of starch granules of maize dried by hot-air drying and vacuum drying.The results indicated that the starch granule of maize dried naturally or at low temperature had good appearance and a bright polarization cross;but the starch granule of maize dried at high temperature had a blurry polarization cross with migration.The quality of the dried maize could be reflected directly by observing the appearance and the polarization cross of the maize starch granule.
