A study of rare earth elements doping on LiCoO_2

The rare earth elements were added to the cathode material LiCoO2 of Liion batteries via high temperature solid synthesis with a series of LiCo1-xRxO2(R=rare earth elements Y,La,Tm,Gd,Ho;x=001,002,003)Experiments of XRD and SEM were carried out.The original charging capacities of the batteries made from the cathode materials doped with Y and La reached to 174?mAh/g and 159?mAh/g respectively,and the original discharge capacity reached to 154?mAh/g and 149?mAh/g respectivelyAfter 10 cycles,the discharging capacity maintained at 138?mAh/g and 139?mAh/g,respectively
