Objective To observe the effect of galectin-1 expression on the phenotypes of LoVo cell. Methods Eukaryotic expression vector of galectin-1 was constructed and transfected into LoVo cell using LipofectamineRM 2000.Immunochemistry and dot-ELISA were used to detect the intracellular and extracellular galectin-1.Phenotypes of LoVo cell including heterotypic cell adhesion, homotypic cell adhesion and tumorigenicity assay were observed. Results Eukaryotic expression vector of galectin-1 was successfully constructed.Galectin-1 expression inhibited LoVo cell heterotypic adhesion,accelerated its homotypic adhesion,and attenuated tumorigenicity of LoVo cell(P0.001). Conclusion Galectin-1 expression could decrease LoVo cell malignant phenotypes.
