Analysis and Exploration of Topology Optimization Based on Variable Density Method

Topology optimization (TO) is a focal point of research in the engineering domain. In recent years, with the development of computers, TO has been applied to various fields of architectural design, and the relationship between building models and building performance has been established. However, due to the complexity and high nonlinearity of engineering problems, TO is still unable to complete all optimization problems. At the same time, a new technology is difficult to replace the mindset that people have been accustomed to for many years. In this paper, the variable density TO method is researched. First, the TO model is established, then the Discretization and finite element analysis of the structure are carried out, and then the results are obtained through the algorithm. Finally, the numerical instability is solved. This paper obtains the model and algorithm of the variable density topology optimization method (VDTOM), and elaborates on the solutions to numerical instability phenomena. In addition, the advantages and disadvantages of the VDTOM are obtained, which also reflects the enormous potential of TO in the field of building structural design.
