PALEOPRODUCTIVITY RECORDS IN THE MID-LATITUDE NORTH PACIFIC OVER THE LATE QUATERNARY

The paper reviews published paleoproductivity records in the mid-latitude North Pacific over the late Quaternary and discusses the possible causes of the paleoproductivity changes.The paleoproductivity in the mid-latitude North pacific fluctuated periodically over the late Quaternary,i.e.,it increased obviously during glacial,but decreased during interglacial.After considering the various factors influencing the paleoproductivity,we know that the possible reason for paleoproductivity increase during glacial may be related to the increase of Asian dust input,which provided more nutrients for phytoplankton to improve primary production.
