INTERFACIAL ACTIVITIES OF PETROLEUM CARBOXYLATE SYSTEMS COMBINED WITH SULFONATE

The interfacial activities of petroleum carboxylate produced by liquid phase oxidized hydrocarbon and its combined systems with sulfonate have been studied. The research results have shown that the interfacial activities of combined systems are much better than that of pertoleum carboxylate or sulfonate systems alone. Adding a little sulfonate to pertroleum carboxylate can substatially decrease the concentration of electrolyte necessary to obtain ultralow interfacial tension(IFT). The time needed to arrive at low IFT is very short for the combined systems. The initial low IFT is very advantageous to enhance oil recoveries. In general, petroleum carboxylate shows good synergism with several sulfonates. (ORS 41, B 100, MS 45, etc).
