SUMMARY Rhizophora racemosa G.F.W. Meyer is reported for the first time in mangrove forests of the Venezuelan Caribbean Coast. The specimens were collected in the Cariaco River and the Gulf of Santa Fe, on the western coast of Sucre State. The diagnostic character used to distinguish the species is the order of the number of bifurcations in the inflorescence. Descrip tion of the habitat of this species is included.
