An Experimental Study on the Application of Moisture-holding Agent on the Afforestation of Cupressus lusitanica

The undesirable site condition of karst area of dry and hot valley of Yunnan province resulted in the low survivor ratio of afforestation. The afforestation experiment with the aid of moisture holding agent, ABT root_growing powder and film cover were carried out. The experimental results are as the follows: 1) The survival ratio of afforestation attains 99%, which is 21%～27% higher than that of control; 2) The average height growth attains 116 cm, which is 17 5 cm higher than the control, the height and diameter are respectively 41 cm and 0 3 cm higher than the level of fixed planting. This technique can be extended to similar areas in the implementation of afforestation.
