摘要
To the editor—The 2021 Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) for management of pediatric acute hematogenous osteomyelitis (AHO) developed by a multidisciplinary panel representing the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society and Infectious Diseases Society of America incorporated a systematic review of publications to make evidence-based recommendations based on certainty of evidence [1]. The review included publications only through 2019, and several domains of management had insufficient data to support strong recommendations and additional research needs were identified [1]. One such knowledge gap related to lack of clinical and laboratory tools for prompt discrimination between uncomplicated and complicated cases, and prediction of long-term adverse outcomes [2–5]. We wish to update the literature review pertaining to prediction of clinical complications applying the same PubMed search string used by the CPG [1] modified with “prediction rule, clinical”[MeSH Terms] OR “predictive value of tests”[MeSH Terms] OR predict*[Text Word]) OR injury severity score[MeSH Terms] OR score[Text Word]. From January 1, 2020 to September 20, 2021, the only relevant paper was one that our group published in 2020 [6].
