Pregnancy is a vulnerable nutritional and physiological state due to the high energy and the nutritional demands of fetus. The objective of this study was to evaluate the critical nutrients in pregnant women. Daily nutritional 24 hours intake f of women was measured by and ad-doc sample of the foods rich in iron, folic acid and zinc. Forty seven pregnant women were examined in two health centers in Temuco at 8.2 and 10 weeks of gestational age. Deficiencies of the group correspond to calcium 47.5%, iron 50.7% and zinc 63.1% of adequacy. We conclude that the daily intake of the group is deficient (less than 75% of adequacy) in calcium, iron and zinc. This relates with a high index of poverty (61.7%).
