[Objective]To compare the advantages and disadvantages between inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS) and quercetin spectrophotometry in determination of tin dioxide in workplace air.[Methods]Two methods were compared in the pretreatment method, linearity range, detection limit, precision, accuracy, determination of actual samples.[Results] For the spectrophotometry, the pretreatment time was 4-5 hours, the linearity range was 150-3 000 μg/L,the detection limit was 150 μg/L,the precision was 0.4%-1.1%,and the accuracy was 95%-97%.For ICP-MS method, the pretreatment time was 0.5 ~ 1.0 hour, the linearity range was 1-100 μg/L,the detection limit was 0.10 μg/L,the precision was 0.6%-1.4%,and the accuracy was 99%.Both two methods can effectively determine the concentration of tin dioxide in workplace air.[Conclusion] Compared with the quercetin spectrophotometry,ICP-MS method can greatly shorten the pretreatment time, has lower linearity range and detection limit, has the same precision and accuracy, and is suitable for low concentration samples, which can greatly improve the efficiency and quality of detection work.
