Analysis on the Methods for Assessing Vegetation Cover Based on RS in Alkali Region,Northwest China

While studying the vegetation degradation,Vegetation coverage is often used.In the field of remote sensing,using vegetation index(NDVI,MSAVI,et.) to describevegetation coverage percentage is popular accepted and applied.In this paper,experiments in Aibi lake area were made in order to compare the difference betweenNDVI?MSAVI and Vegetation coverage obtained by linear spectral unmixing.The results of the experiment indicate that vegetation coverage is more suitable for monitoring low vegetation cover dynamic change.
