Objective To investigate the urodynamic findings of interstitial cystitis, and discriminate painful bladder syndrome interstitial cystitis and trigone cystitis using urodynamics. Methods The study included 34 patients with painful bladder syndrome/interstitial cystitis(IC),30 patients with trigone cystitis and 18 normal controls referred to our hospital. All patients underwent free uroflowmetry. The urodymamic study(UDS) was performed according to the ICS standardization. Results Max flow rate,Average flow rate, voiding volume, maximum cystometric capacity and bladder compliance was significant lower in IC patients than those in normal controls. Also the Max flow rate,Voiding volume, maximum cystometric capacity and bladder compliance was significant lower in IC patients than those in patients with trigone cystitis.Flow time, maximum urethral closure pressure was significant higher in IC patients than those in patients with trigone cystitis. There was no significant difference in maximal detrusor pressure and Functional urethral length between these three groups. Conclusion There are urine storage dysfunctions in most patients with IC,however, most patients with trigone cystitis have normal bladder dysfunction.the UDS might be useful diagnostic tools to differentiate PBS/IC from trigone cystitis.
