摘要
Ultrasonic measurements of the longitudinal and shear moduli of a high-purity vitreous silica, GE151, are reported for comparison with longitudinal modulus values determined from elastic-impact experiments. Characterization of this material is important for a direct comparison of elastic constants determined in elastic-impact and second-harmonic-generation experiments. Good agreement is found between the ultrasonic and impact experiments. The shear modulus of GE151 is reported for the first time. The present values differ from similar measurements recently reported in ultrasonic second-harmonic-generation experiments on this material.
