A comparison of three routing protocols developed for mobile ad hoc networks is made. The protocols are: Dynamic Source Routing(DSR), Destination Sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV) and Ad-hoc On demand Distance Vector(AODV). Extensive simulations are made on a scenario where nodes move randomly. The simulation results show that all the three protocols perform worse when the nodes move faster with a specific communication radius, and perform better when the communication radius becomes larger with the specific nodes speed. Furthermore, the results show that the AODV protocol has a higher end-to-end throughput and a smaller packet dropping probability than DSR and DSDV, with DSDV having the smallest packet transmission delay under the same conditions.
