Generally, arc models are used to study the behaviour of the electric arc and its interaction with the circuit. Precise simulation of fault current arc has very important role in performing arc flash calculations for short circuit test and arc test on different electrical equipment and also for fault analysis in power system studies. It is also very useful in deciding the test parameters during short circuit testing. This paper discusses the several arc models for calculating the arc voltage for various arc fault currents. These models are compared with the real-time testing carried out at High Power lab, CPRI, Bangalore.
