Objective
To investigate the efficacy of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate on benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Methods
From November 2013 to November 2014, 123 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia were selected and randomly divided into two groups. Sixty-one cases in the control group were treated by transurethral resection of prostate, and 62 cases in the observation group were treated by holmium laser enucleation of the prostate, the efficacy and safety of the two groups were compared.
Results
In the observation group, the intraoperative bleeding was(70.0±9.3)ml, the time of indwelling urethral catheter was (58.6±12.5)h, postoperative bladder irrigation time was(18.2±9.3)h, hospitalization time was (6.6±1.2)d, which were better than those of the control group [(99.1±8.5)ml, (81.1±13.7)h, (27.1±10.4)h, (8.2±1.6)d], the difference was significant(P<0.05). The postoperative complication rate of the observation group was 6.45% (4/62), which was lower than that of the control group[18.03% (11/61)].
Conclusions
Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate with stronger ability of cutting and hemostatic, is safe and effective in benign prostatic hyperplasia.
