Objectives: In previous studies in rodent models of obesity, we have shown that increased relative abundance of the genus Clostridium sensu stricto in the gut microbiome, correlates with resistance to diet-induced obesity. The objective of this study was to (i) characterize the functional genomics and metabolic potential of commensal Clostridium species associated with reduced fat accumulation and (ii) validate the anti-obesity activity of Clostridium celatum metabolites in a Caenorhabditis elegans high-fat diet (HFD) model.
