Objective To study the changes of nitric oxide(NO) and endothelin(ET) in obstructive jaundice in rats. Methods Plasma concentration of NO and ET were determined in bile duct ligated (BDL) rats and control rats with colorimetry and radioimmunoassay. HR, MAP and CO were measured with kymography. Results NO level in BDL group was higher than in control rats( P 0.01), and the plasma level of ET was lower in BDL group than in control rats 10 days after bile duct ligation (P 0.05). The decreased MAP and HR and increased CO were observed in BDL group. Conclusion The increase of NO and decrease of ET might play roles in systemic hemodynamic changes of obstructive jaundic.
